Following last month's State Solo & Ensemble Festival, Avondale High School and Middle School Choirs went on to compete at the Michigan School Vocal Music Association (MSVMA) State Choir Festival, held on April 28th, 29th, and 30th at Oakland University. Our choirs continued to shine, upholding the "Tradition of Excellence" that has defined the program for over twenty-five years. On April 28th and 29th, our five high school choirs took the stage, and on April 30th, our two remarkable middle school choirs performed on stage.
For years, Avondale High School has proudly sent four or more choirs to represent us at the state level, highlighting our commitment to musical artistry. The judges were thoroughly impressed by our choirs' performances, with many receiving outstanding scores and accolades.
Notable Achievements of Avondale High School Choirs at the State Festival:
• Concert Choir: 1st Division
• Women of Concert Choir: 1st Division
• Women’s Chorus: 1st Division
• Mixed Chorus: 1st Division
• Men of Avondale: 2nd Division
Avondale Middle School has a proud history of sending two or more choirs to represent us at the state level, demonstrating their dedication to musical artistry. The judges were highly impressed by the performances, awarding both choirs outstanding scores and recognition.
The judges praised our middle school choirs for their mature sound and impressive stage presence, resulting in high scores for their exceptional performances. Notably, this year marked the first time our 6th grade choir participated in both the district and state levels of the Michigan School Vocal Music Association Choir Festival. Achieving state qualification is a significant accomplishment for a 6th grade choir!
