Avondale's Food & Nutrition Services team is thrilled to announce that Avondale has been selected as a pilot district for Chartwells' Food Haul Program, a bold new initiative that’s transforming the way school meals are served—starting next Wednesday during high school lunch!
To kick things off, our brand-new Food Haul cart will roll out with a rotating menu of fresh, healthy meals, featuring special grand opening dishes inspired by familiar Avondale faces.
Students will get a chance to sample fun, featured flavors like:
• Trella’s Take Down Quesadilla
• Dr. Schwarz’s Doctorate in Cheese Mac and Cheese
• Mitzel’s Power Greens
• Rubix’s Tail Waggin’ Bacon Cheeseburger Stack
• And more!
This exciting new point-of-service brings more meal options outside of the traditional cafeteria, making it easier and faster for students to grab a healthy lunch and enjoy more of their break time. Whether they’re rushing to class or just want something different, Food Haul offers flexibility, speed, and a delicious variety.
What makes this program unique:
• Exclusive Opportunity: Avondale is one of a select few districts nationwide chosen to pilot this program before a wider rollout.
• Grant Funded: Thanks to our outstanding dining services team, Food Haul is funded through secured grants—no general fund dollars required.
• Better Access, Better Nutrition: More students will have access to healthy, balanced meals in more convenient ways.
• Faster Service: Students get more time to eat and relax during their short lunch breaks.
• Healthier Choices, Happier Students: A variety of nutritious options supports student wellness and academic success.
We're excited for our students to experience this new way to dine, and we’re proud to lead the way in school meal innovation. Keep an eye out for the Food Haul cart as it makes it's way around the district—and make sure to ask your student what they tried! Let’s eat!
