Why is Avondale schools a great place to work?
“I believe it’s the community and families that are here. Many of them are alumni so that makes it nice. I have a few that I have their children as students. It’s great to see my former students have their children and income invest into the district. I believe the teachers are very passionate about the kids. I think teachers that like the diversity, we have teachers that left here and went to elsewhere, but then he came back. I’ve been with a district that has a nice amount of diversity from different cultures and from even an economical social social economical levels. When I first started working here, a friend of mine who was a teacher at the middle school drove me around to show me that while you might assume it is all affluent areas, there are areas that are not. I like like that the kids spend time together whether they’re very affluent or very poor and they grow up together, especially those that are in the district that’s the ones that are really the ones that I think benefit because they don’t see the dollar and they just spend time together and you have no clue and those those families that know that someone is not doing well.
Why is Avondale school is a great place for students?
Avondale is great for kids because we give them a lot of opportunities and programs for kids. A lot of teachers that invest in our kids it’s not just the classroom but it’s also afterward school. Everyone is here for kids, even the secretaries. As a teacher, I hardly ever send students to the office, but there was one situation where a student needed to be escorted to the main office. When I got there, the dean was busy, but the secretary said, “What’s going on, What did you do?” I told her and she said Mr. Cornwell never sends kids here, you need to shake his hand, look him in the eye, apologize, and he did. I loved how she was invested. Everyone is invested, for example one of our coaches is also a security guard. We don’t produce robots but we try to work with the kids and we know that we’re not getting the perfect kid. I don’t think anyone is, no matter what level that people are on, but we try to invest as much as we can. I had a student that was challenging and I was considering giving up on him, but I didn’t it was the best decision I’ve ever made because I can see them turn the corner

“Connection with the kids, the parents and the kids”

The faculty is very friendly in all buildings and they’re very welcoming and they will try to get them involved as much as possible.
