AMS and AHS also offer a variety of options to get involved with band and choir for students interested in pursing music as a hobby or a career path. Whether you're an actor, crew member, musician, or vocal performer - there is a place for you to express your artistic abilities within the Performing Arts Programs available at Avondale!

Avondale Theatre Company

Avondale's performing arts and theater programs give students the opportunity to express themselves creatively while also entertaining our local community. If you're interested in getting involved in theater, we welcome any student to try out for one of the plays or musicals at Avondale High School – Whether you'd like to be an actor or crew member! You don't need to be in Drama Club or Drama class to try out for a play or musical either! If you'd like to help out behind the scenes, our crew members are always looking for helping hands to join in building and creating sets, costumes, props, and more! Stay tuned for announcements about upcoming auditions or opportunities to get involved.

Avondale Middle School also offers young thespians the opportunity to participate in theater in front of the curtain or behind the scenes.

Avondale Band Programs

Avondale's Band Programs are a perfect place for students who want to develop their comprehensive musical skills in a performance-based environment. Students receive guidance and opportunity to explore, discover, grow, and refine the key attributes to becoming a strong instrumentalist and all-around musician. Our programs include the Yellow Jacket Marching Band, concert ensembles, chamber ensembles, a pit orchestra, and more! Our Yellow Jacket Marching Band has earned multiple notable achievements over the years, including 1st Place in Class A at the Pontiac Invitational and a Division I rating at the MSBOA Marching Band Festival. Choir & Vocal Music Programs

Avondale's Vocal Music Department is the perfect environment for students who want to develop their vocal skills, experience competitive performance, and participate in non-competitive entertainment. Our students have the opportunity to explore, discover, grow, and refine their skills while working towards becoming strong vocalists. Members engaged in our vocal music offerings at Avondale learn vocal techniques, breath management, music theory, sight-reading skills, and more! We offer a variety of options, such as Mixed Chorus, Women's Chorus, Concert Choir, and the Men of Avondale choir. Under the direction of Avondale's Kevin Cornwell, our choirs and soloists consistently receive first divisions, superior, and excellent ratings at the Michigan School Vocal Music Association District and State Choir Festival.
